Renovation Of Optical Elements
Why To Renovate Optical Elements?
The production of new prisms or lenses is very demanding both time and economy. Therefore, someone may be wondering how to repair a damaged prism, lens, or vista. Although not everything, but most optical elements can be renovated for a fraction of the price of a new piece.
How The Renovation Is Going?
Damaged glass surfaces are first roughly sanded until all scratches and nicks are removed. It is then ground finely to prepare the glass surfaces for polishing. The surfaces are still matt, but after several hours of polishing they are perfectly transparent. If no special layers were present on the glass before the renovation, the renovation is over.
Vacuum Deposition Of Thin Layer
If a layer was present on the glass before the renovation, it is irreversibly gone and must be applied to the polished surface again. By vacuum evaporation, we are able to vaporize a new layer on the glass, exactly according to the customer’s specifications.
